mr.Ronnie

David Beckham to join AC Milan on loan
The English Galactico, David Beckham, will move to AC Milan on a short-term loan in January. The move will occur during MLS’s offseason and Becks is expected to return to LA Galaxy in April when the 2009 MLS season kicks off.
Beckham is moving on loan in a bid to keep playing competitive football and stay fit so he is available for selection for the national team for friendlies and international qualifiers next year.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani:
“Beckham has chosen Milan. He’ll stay here in Milan on loan for a few months.
Our squad is ultra-competitive and it will remain this way but Beckham is something different and intriguing.”
Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti:
“For me, it will be a pleasure. Beckham is a serious athlete, a great professional. If he’ll be available for us, we’ll be very happy.”
We know what Becks will get from Milan, but what will Milan get from Becks?
For starters, and this in no way reduces his footballing impact, Beckham will bring in money. He’s done it all his life for every team he’s played for, the man is a footballing icon and his presence will make Milan sexy and the focus of everyone’s attention, at least for 3 months.
Second, he’s going to give Ancelotti different options in middle of the season with League and European games coming in thick and fast. While he’s slowed down he is still quite good given some space and time on the ball and he’ll get that more in Italy than he would have in England.
And who knows - Beckham could help Milan make a genuine challenge for the title and get them closer to winning the UEFA Cup as well. His first year in the US didn’t go according to plan but he proved himself in the second year once he was fit and seeing how he adapted and proved himself at Real Madrid before that, I have no doubt that David Beckham will be the star of the Milan show, even if it lasts just 3 months.
Update:
Expectedly, Milan have played down the impact Beckham will have on attracting fans and media attention towards Milan:
“Milan isn’t a doll shop, Milan is instead very proud of the policy that it is making. We are the only club against the grain: fans come to the stadium to see Milan. It is not the case if 65,000 persons come to see Milan x Sampodoria of Genoa. If the 65,000 come to the stadium, it means that Milan is a product that is pleasing. With respects to the figure of 65,000, Beckham will more likely bring one more fan to the club than one less.” — Adriano Galliani

CUSTOM

A.C. Milan has always been represented by Red and Black. Red was meant to represent the fire of the club and black was the emotion of their opposing team. The home jersey is striped with red and black
and away custom is white-white

AC MILAN legend

Paolo Maldini: The captain of A.C. Milan, has held down the defensive line for over 20 years. Maldini joined the club in 1984, and there is talk of his retirement in 2008. He has won 7 Scudettos with A.C. Milan in Serie A. As captain he is an important force within the team, and is responsible for the defence as center back. Maldini is often thought of as the face of A.C. Milan, because it is the only club he has ever played for.

STADIUM

A.C. Milan plays at Stadio Guiseppe Meazza, more commonly called San Siro, the Milanese district it stands in. Located in Milan, Italy A.C. Milan shares this stadium with fellow Milan rivals, Internazionale. The stadium, funded by Pietri Pirelli, completed its construction in 1926 for 5 million Lira (Italian Currency) and was built specifically for football. It has a large roof, rather steep stands and a close intimacy with the field making it one of the most exciting stadiums to watch footie. The stadium was officially inaugurated in September 1926 for a battle between Inter and A.C. Milan. In its first official opening Inter Milan beat A.C. Milan 6-3 with 35, 000 screaming fans watching. Although intended to be the home field for A.C., Inter joined quickly calling it their home field as well. In 1957 lights were installed allowing night games to be played, and in 1967 an electronic scoreboard was added. In 1980 it was renamed after Guiseppe Meazza, a star for both A.C. Milan and Internazionale. A.C. Milan prefer to call it San Siro, as Meazza was more successful with Inter having a stronger base with Inter fans.
San Siro has been home to many Italian National matches as well as the Champions League and UEFA Euro Cup. It was also host to many games during the 1990 World Cup. Prior to this cup, the stadium went through $60 million of renovation in order to become a 5 star rated UEFA stadium. The stadium grew with extra tiers being added to three sides and all areas perfected for seating.
The stadium can hold a max capacity of 82, 955 spectators today and offers tours as well as A.C. Milan and Internazionale museums.
